Bipolar Disorder: More Than Just Mood Swings!

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings, including depressive episodes marked by sadness, hopelessness, and fatigue, and “manic episodes” featuring euphoria, high energy, and overactivity. Both may occur simultaneously in some cases. Roughly 3 in 100 people are affected, with men and women equally likely to develop the disorder. The illness often begins in early adulthood, presenting with depression or mania, and may be accompanied by other conditions like anxiety or ADHD.
